This house is completely off the grid, all general heating, cooking and water heating is run from their AGA Rayburn wood burning stove with a wetback. So, they wanted a kitchen which was traditional and in the style of the 1900s but not over the top, simple, traditional and timeless.
The cabinetry in the kitchen is all white tongue and groove, with an Elmwood bench top and a white tile splash back. The retro style Smeg appliances in the kitchen fit right in. The idea was to make the 1950s style appliances look modern in a 1900s style house.
Details like handmade pull-out willow baskets on the buffet side and the panelling above the hood fan provides a visual focal point and keep a consistency with the rest of the kitchen. The PERRIN & ROWE Ionian bridge style tap is a design icon and was the right fit for the traditional kitchen.
A 1900s style kitchen with a view of the chicken coop and vegetable garden just like the good old days, just better.
